Supervision that does not ask you to mask.

What makes supervision neurodivergent-affirming?
It treats the supervisee's own neurodivergence as information rather than as a problem to manage around. Sessions are shaped to how you actually think, notes and preparation are negotiable, and the reflective process does not depend on producing fluent speech for forty-five minutes to order.
A lot of supervision assumes a particular kind of mind: one that recalls the fortnight in order, arrives with a tidy dilemma, and thinks out loud in real time. If yours does not work like that, supervision can quietly become another place you perform competence instead of getting help.
There is a second reason this matters. Your neurodivergent clients will notice whether you understand the territory, and supervision is where that understanding either gets built or does not.
I was diagnosed with ADHD in my early thirties, so I know what arriving at that understanding as an adult is like from the inside as well as from the work.
How the sessions work.
Rooted in humanistic psychotherapy, with creative approaches and CPD brought in where they earn their place.
Individual supervision.
50 minutes fortnightly or 90 minutes monthly, in person or online. Caseload, ethics, process, and the parts of the work that are affecting you.
Group supervision.
My experience includes individual and group supervision for two counselling organisations, and staff supervision for local and national charities.
Creative and written methods.
Writing, image and CPD material used to look at a caseload from an angle that talking alone does not reach.
Practical things that are available.
- Written notes in advance instead of recall on the spot
- Camera off, or partly off
- A shared document we both write in during the session
- Agenda sent ahead, so nothing has to be produced cold
- Longer, less frequent sessions if fortnightly is too much admin
What we cover.
- Casework, and the clients you find hardest
- Ethical questions and boundary decisions
- Your own responses, including the ones you would rather not report
- Disclosure: whether, when and how much to tell clients about yourself
- Capacity, caseload size and your own burnout risk
- Working with neurodivergent clients when you are still learning
Who this suits.
- Counsellors and psychotherapists, qualified or in training.
- Neurodivergent practitioners.
- Practitioners whose caseload has become largely neurodivergent.
- Frontline charity and support staff needing reflective space.
- I supervise within a humanistic and integrative practice. If you need supervision inside a modality I do not work in, I will say so.
- I am not a training provider and this is not a route to accreditation on its own.
- Group work is arranged directly with organisations rather than booked online.
Common questions.
How much does supervision cost?
£80 per session, for 50 minutes fortnightly or £130 for 90 minutes monthly. The initial phone consultation is free. Fees are payable a week in advance, and organisational and group work is quoted per contract.
Do I have to be neurodivergent for this?
No. Plenty of supervisees are not, and come because their caseload is. The approach suits anyone who wants supervision shaped around how they actually work rather than a standard format.
Is this BACP-recognised supervision?
I am a BACP senior accredited member, number 374395, and hold a Certificate in Supervision from the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy, alongside Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression supervisor training. Whether that meets a particular requirement depends on your own body and route, so please check it against their current criteria.
Can you supervise a whole staff team?
Yes. I have provided staff supervision for frontline local and national charities, and facilitated supervision groups for two counselling organisations. If you would like to talk about it, let me know the size of the team and how often you would like to meet, and I will quote for it. There is more about the organisational side of the work on the wellbeing services for organisations page.
What if I arrive with nothing prepared?
That is a normal supervision session, not a failure of one. We start from where you actually are and find the material from there.
Can we meet in person?
Supervision can be in person if you are local to Brighton or Lewes. If you are based outside of these areas, I can offer supervision online.
Choosing a supervisor is a big decision.
The first call is free and exists so you can ask whatever you need to before committing to anything.
